Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports #warriorpride

PBIS was rolled out at Wayne High School at the beginning of the 2017-18 school year.  The building’s PBIS Committee established three expectations for all WHS students to show their Warrior Pride – Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Safe.  Warrior Pride posters have been placed in common areas to remind students of these expectations, including in the hallways, the main office, the cafeteria, outside of restrooms, and the entrance of the gymnasium.  Copies of the expectations were also given to each teacher to be hung inside of classrooms.

The primarily acknowledgement system implemented at Wayne this year is the use of positive referrals  When a teacher would like to acknowledge a student for exhibiting one of our three expectations, the teacher submits a positive referral through Public School Works.  The student then receives a Warrior Pride Certificate based upon the contents of the positive referral.  Each student who receives a Warrior Pride Certificate is entered into a monthly drawing where five winners are selected to have lunch provided by Lee’s Chicken.  Student notes are also drawn to be read during Daily Announcements as another way to highlight our students who show their Warrior Pride.
